Medicare Secondary Payer (MSP) Data Not Available

On July 15, 2022, Noridian identified an issue where Medicare Secondary Payer (MSP) information is not displaying on the Eligibility response.  NMP will display the message "Eligibility information for this category is not on file on the date for this inquiry". Noridian has reported the issue to HETS to identify and resolve the issue. Providers do not need to report the error to Noridian. 


Prior Authorization Request Submission and Status Now Available in the Noridian Medicare Portal for Part B Users

Multi-Factor Authentication (MFA) Passcode Valid for 8 Hours

Noridian has enhanced the Multi-Factor Authentication (MFA) passcode on the Noridian Medicare Portal (NMP) to be valid for an 8-hour time period. Users will continue to request the passcode at each log in but will be able to just enter in the same passcode for 8 hours instead of receiving a new passcode at each log in. Remittance Advice Requirement - Effective September 29, 2021

Remittance Advices (RA) are issued in either Standard Paper Remittance (SPR) or Electronic Remittance Advice (ERA) formats. An RA provides finalized claim details and contains explanatory claim processing message codes. Three different sets of codes are used on an RA: reason codes, group codes and Medicare-specific remark codes and messages. Effective September 29, 2021 in order for Noridian Customer Service Representatives to assist callers, a copy of the remittance advice will need to be available when calling. This change is being implemented to ensure we provide efficient customer service.

Line Level Reasons Codes Available on Part A Claims on the Noridian Medicare Portal

As of July 30, 2021, the Noridian Medicare Portal (NMP) is now providing enhanced functionality for Part A claims. On a Part A Claim Status Inquiry, a reason code is provided to indicate any potential denials or edits for each line of the claim. These reason codes have been enhanced by providing a hyperlink to the reason code narrative. When a user clicks the hyperlink on the reason code, a pop-up window will display the reason code and the associated narrative. To return to the claim detail screen, simply click the “X” button in the top right corner of the pop-up window.  


Full Remittance Advices for Part A Users Now Available on the Noridian Medicare Portal

Part A providers are now able to view, save and print versions of their full electronic remittance advices (ERAs) on the Noridian Medicare Portal (NMP). Remittance advices issued on or after July 2, 2021 are available for users that have access to the Remittance Advice inquiry. Previously, full remittance advices were only available for those NPIs that received the standard paper remittance (SPR). Using the Full Remittance Advice inquiry on NMP can be used instead of calling Customer Service to order a duplicate copy. ...Read More

The Medicare Beneficiary Identifiers (MBIs) are made up of numbers 0 to 9 and upper-case letters A to Z. All letters are used except S, L, O, I, B and Z.
