Remittance Advice Requirement - Effective September 29, 2021

Remittance Advices (RA) are issued in either Standard Paper Remittance (SPR) or Electronic Remittance Advice (ERA) formats. An RA provides finalized claim details and contains explanatory claim processing message codes. Three different sets of codes are used on an RA: reason codes, group codes and Medicare-specific remark codes and messages. Effective September 29, 2021 in order for Noridian Customer Service Representatives to assist callers, a copy of the remittance advice will need to be available when calling. This change is being implemented to ensure we provide efficient customer service.
